2.2.5 Program Out of Control
The watchdog timers reset the APC160 automatically if due to a program disturbance either one is not
timely reset (150 ms).
Additionally, during program execution, critical variables are continuously checked for content integrity.
If faults are detected, the APC160 defaults to the reset state.
2.2.6 Intermittent Power Loss
In absence of power, the transmission defaults to Neutral 3
rd
with the parking brake engaged.
After power is restored, the APC160 enters the reset condition, resulting in the immediate confirmation
of Neutral – 3
rd
with the parking brake engaged.
It stays there until the vehicle speed drops to a safe level at which moment normal operation can start.
2.2.7 Drivetrain Shut Down
Sometimes, detected faults may be too critical to allow further operation in the current condition. For
instance if while driving from the platform a fault related to the electronic brake is detected, continued
operation may lead to accidents. Therefore – in that case – the machine is brought to standstill using
the parking brake and driving is disabled until the power is removed and another operating mode is
selected.
The conditions leading to SHUTDOWN depend on the operating mode and are as follows:
In Platform Control Mode:
· Electronic Brake related faults
· Parking Brake related faults
· Speed sensor related faults
· Any Direction solenoid output related fault
· Any Range solenoid output related fault
Other modes:
· Multiple Direction solenoid output related faults
· Multiple Range solenoid output related faults
Note that when a SHUTDOWN condition occurs while driving from the platform, the controller
needs to be turned off to get rid of the SHUTDOWN condition.
2.2.8 Single Faults on Analog Outputs
Faults related to output A2
This output controls the brake pressure modulator.
Faults related to current sense inputs A3,A5,A7,A9
Input A3 is the current sense input for the brake valve. The other inputs are not actually used in the
application but could affect the system's operation if connected improperly.
Faults related to outputs A4, A6, and A8
