2.2.3 Supply Voltage Out of Range
2.2.3.1 Over Voltage
The APC160 is very tolerant to large transients on its power lines. Even power supply levels up to 40 V
will not damage circuit components.
A fault indication on the display is given to warn the driver of the problem.
2.2.3.2 Under Voltage
The APC160 operates at voltages down to 9 Vdc.
Below 9 Vdc however the APC160 can enter the reset condition and shuts off all outputs.
Because the APC160's engine start disable circuit is using a normal closed relay to prevent engine
cranking in certain conditions, this is not considered as a problem.
2.2.3.3 Fault Codes for Supply Voltage Faults
30.04
· The operating voltage is too low
30.05
· The operating voltage is too high
2.2.4 Internal Faults
At power up a series of integrity checks is done.
These tests consist of the following:
· CPU integrity check (ALU, registers, operators)
· Internal RAM test (Modified March–C test)
· Program Flash memory integrity check (Modified 16 bit checksum)
· External RAM test (Modified March–C test)
· Parameter Flash memory integrity check (Modified 16 bit checksum per parameter)
· Redundant
SHUTDOWN Path integrity check
If these tests prevent operation as a transmission controller, then the APC160 locks itself in a reset
state, with all outputs off.
If faults related to shift limits are detected prohibiting safe transmission control, the APC160 reverts to
shut-down mode (SHDN). In this mode, the transmission can not be operated.
