that you leave it to finish. If really necessary you can interrupt tuning
at any time by pressing the TV key [21].
When the Autostore pr ocedure finishes, if you wish to edit the chan-
nel table or change programme numbers, pr oceed as instructed in
section 4.6.3 Editing and reor ganising the channel table.
4.6.2 T uning in and pr ogramming channels
manually
If you wish to tune in and programme channels manually (one at a
time), proceed as instructed below:
-01-Pr ess the yellow key [4] to display the Main Settings menu.
-02-Scr oll through the menu to “Installation”. Select and confirm
“Installation”.
-03-Select “System” then select the ‘transmission standar d’ used
for television broadcasts in your country . Select PAL-BG for Italian
and German channels, etc.. Select SECAM-L for French channels.
Select PAL-I for British channels. Select NTSC etc. as and when
relevant. If you ar e in doubt as to your national standard, select
“Auto” to allow the television to recognise transmission standar ds
automatically while tuning in. (IMPORT ANT! The only valid option for
French channels is SECAM-L.) In some cases it may not be suf fi-
cient to select “Auto” and you may have to specify a transmission
standard manually as instructed above.
-04-Scr oll to “Channel T ype”, select “CH” if you wish to tune the
broadcasted channels r eceived with a conventional antenna, or “S”
if you wish to tune the channels diffused by cable (only possible if
you are connected to a cable channel service pr ovider).
-05-Scr oll through the menu to “Pr og. Number” and use the
numeric keypad [2] on the remote contr ol to enter the programme
number (using two digits, from 01 to 99) in which you wish to stor e
the channel.
NOTE: W e r ecommend that you leave programme number ‘0’ fr ee. If
you connect a video recor der to the television’s antenna connector
[B](see section 4.5 SELECTING THE AUDIO-VIDEO SOURCE), pr o-
gramme number ‘0’ is automatically assigned to the signal from the
video recor der .
-06-Scr oll through the menu to “AFC” and select “On”. This swit-
ches on automatic frequency contr ol, ensuring that the strongest
signal for the channel is tuned in.
-07-Scr oll through the menu to “Channel” and use the r emote
control’ s numeric keypad [2] to enter the number of the channel (in
two digits) that you wish to tune in. If you do not know the channel
number , pr ess and hold key [23] to start searching automatically for
the next channel after that currently being viewed, or pr ess key [24]
to search for the pr evious channel. In this way the television tunes in
the first channel it finds. If the quality of reception is not satisfactory ,
proceed as follows to adjust r eception.
-08-Scr oll to “Fine T une” in the Installationsub-menu, and move
the slider control until you obtain interfer ence-free image and sound.
4.6 TUNING IN AND
PROGRAMMING (TV)
This section explains how to tune in to the various channels recei-
ved by your antenna. Y ou can tune in and stor e channels in program
numbers in either of two ways: MANUALL Y or AUTOMA TICALL Y.
T o ensur e quick and easy tuning of all the channels available in your
area, we r ecommend that you follow the automatic tuning procedur e
unless you are thor oughly conversant with manual tuning.
4.6.1 T uning in and pr ogramming channels
automatically
This procedur e uses A TS (the Automatic T uning System) to tune in
all the channels re ceived from local transmitters, and to stor e them
in the program numbers in memory . Before you start, check that the
factory set transmission standard corr esponds to that used in your
country. (T o check and change the transmission standard see sec-
tion 4.6.2 T uning in and pr ogramming channels manually, step -03-.)
Once you have checked the transmission standard, pr oceed as fol-
lows.
-01-Pr ess the yellow key [4] to display the Main Settings menu.
-02-Scr oll through the menu to “Setup”. Select and confirm
“Setup”.
-03-Select the “Country” option and select the country in which
you live. (Countries are identified by their inter national codes: A, B,
CH, D, F , UK, I, NL, and E and “_ _” for all other countries.) By
selecting your country, you enable the A TS tuning system to auto-
matically associate the most important national channels with the
first available programme numbers. For example, if you select “I” for
Italy, the system will automatically stor e RAI 1, RAI 2, RAI 3 etc, in
the first programme numbers.
-04-Select “Ch. T able” and select the area of Eur ope in which
you live. The available options are “Italy”, “France”, “OIR T” (East
European countries) and “Eur ope” (other European countries). This
selection enables the tuning system to rapidly and automatically
identify the channels listed in the ‘Radio Frequencies T ables” publis-
hed by each European country .
-05-Select and confirm “Autostor e”. The Autostor emenu
appears with the “Start” option pre-selected. If you do not wish to
proceed, select and confirm “Cancel” instead.
-06-If you wish to start automatic channel tuning, simply confirm
“Start”. The Busy ...scr een appears and the system begins automa-
tic tuning. Each channel tuned in is memorised in the channel list
and automatically associated with a programme number . As each
channel is tuned, in the message “Found” appears alongside the
corresponding pr ogramme number .
When the channel list is complete, the Busy ...scr een disappears
and the television displays the image of whatever channel has been
assigned to programme 1.
